Graduation was great! On Friday, June 2nd the kindergarten children celebrated the end of the year with a waffle breakfast followed by graduation festivities. The children marched into the room to the strains of Pomp and Circumstance then performed the world premiere of my original skit Trouble in Mother Goose Land. They sang several songs for the enrapt audience before receiving diplomas and flowers. The babies have hatched! We have at least four little robins in the nest. Mom and Dad spend all of their time feeding and caring for the babies. You can see the parents switching off in the first picture below. Return of the Turtle Lady! Mary Doane of Project Nature a/k/a The Turtle Lady presented her last program for this school year, Sail Away, Little Boat. I was very excited about this because Mary based this particular program on the book of the same title by my good friend, New Hampshire author Janet Buell. There was singing, dancing, and a musical chairs-style movement activity that had the children playacting boats in search of a place to dock. Each child sculpted his or her own little boat to take home, and everybody went away with a greater appreciation of the wonders found in our own backyards. Spring is here! It's time for fun!
